I stayed for ONE night (my last night in Puerto Rico), and woke up covered in nearly 100 bed bug bites, from my forehead to my knees. And they weren't like any bug bites I've ever had before -- they caused my limbs to swell up so much they hurt, and became huge oozing blisters. I went straight to the doctor when I got home, and the woman wanting to take my blood pressure just walked away when I took off my jacket sleeve -- my entire arm was one red, oozing mess. The doctor took one look at me and said "Oh my god -- what happened???!!!" (Absolutely the words you want to hear from a doctor when they look at you.) She prescribed a cortisone shot, antihistamines, steroids, and antibiotics, because she was convinced the bites were infected since they were oozing. I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics, which then caused me to have hives over a third of my body (on top of the bites), and my throat to close up. Back to the doctor. (There was nothing that could counteract this, so they told me to "go to the emergency room if you can't breathe.") I was repulsive, and uncomfortable, for months -- it was 100 degrees outside and I had to wear long sleeves shirts. The bites went down for a little while, but then inexplicably swelled up again, causing me to have repeated nightmares of baby bedbugs crawling out of my skin. It has been nearly 10 months since it happened, and I still have scars. CasaBlanca staff admitted that they found bedbugs in the room, and refunded the cost of my night there. However, the hotel refuses to reimburse me for my medical bills, the brand new $400 suitcase which obviously had to be replaced, the permanent scarring, or anything else. When I asked them what they would do to ensure this wouldn't happen to anyone else who stayed there, they kept changing their answers, and none of them seemed adequate to me. I don't know about you, but not only would I never risk staying at a place that had a history of bed bugs, I wouldn't want to stay somewhere that thinks it is ok to treat their guests like that.

Absolutely amazing and authentic hotel. At front desk, a young lady with the coolest hair I ever seen circled on the map all the attractions and best places to eat in San Juan and it was a perfect itinerary. Hotel has perfect location it is a MUST STAY!

When it comes to customer service, wow! The staff was very helpful and friendly. They made sure accommodations were great, made good recommendations and were overall really friendly. I stayed for 4 nights and by my 2nd night, I was greeted on a first name basis which made me that much happier. I stayed in a standard queen room for the first three night, great size for a couple or a single traveler. The last night, after a flight cancellation, I came back and they accommodated me in a king room which was very spacious with a bigger shower / bathroom space. Loved the experience in both rooms! The hotel itself is very charming and located in the heart of Old San Juan. We were able to walk to get everywhere the old city had to offer. The rooftop was the best part of the stay! Offering 4 spacious tubs to enjoy while soaking up the sun and looking out an amazing view of the ocean and the historic city. On the last day, we tried out the brunch and it did not disappoint! The food portions were large and the mimosas were an added bonus to the natural juices and delicious food. The space for the cafe is very small but if you can manage to eat there, I recommend.

We booked this hotel at the beginning of our tour of PR, toured the island, then 6 days later returned here before we had to come home. It is so beautiful here. The hotel is in a perfect location to walk Old San Juan. The folks working here are incredibly sweet and helpful. We stayed in both the old and new part of the hotel and both sides are extremely quiet during the night. The beds are extremely comfy. The shower's water pressure is perfect. The temp in the room was nice and cool. There is also a small cafe inside the hotel. I highly recommend staying here, because I will the next time I visit PR.
