  The first eye doctor I ever saw and the best doctor visit I ever had. I had a vascular rupture in my left eye on Fri, went to the emergency room at Ashford Hospital, the emergency doctor on duty (Dr. Lopez) made a referral to Dr Maestre. I figure I have to wait days if not weeks to make an appointment to see a specialist on the island,. To my surprise, Dr Maestre made himself available to see me the next day, even though the office is closed on weekends. I went to the office at 10 am as directed , Dr Maestre was already there by himself. He examed my left eye thoroughly, determined a minor vascular rupture had occurred due to my slightly elevated blood pressure, nothing major. What a relieve! He then subscribed a special eye drop to help to dissipate the clog. He even made another referral to his personal doctor to address my high blood pressure. This is truly the best doctor visit I ever had. I applaud the doctors like Dr. Maestre choose to remain in Puerto Rico since there is huge outflow of doctors leaving the island after Maria.

  This doctor once the only doctor in PR while I was on vacation there visiting family who was able to take me in. He treated what we thought was a scratched cornea and was actually shingles on my cornea. One of the most painful experiences of my life and I could have gone blind with out his care. He has an amazing bed side manner and is extremely knowledgeable, kind and patient. He truly is one of the best doctors I have ever had the pleasure of working with and he truly saves lives everyday. THANK YOU Dr. Maestre!! I am forever grateful for your care!
