  This was our ship's home-port away from home-port for a stretch in '84. We were the test platform for a new anti-aircraft missile (SM2, Block II) for several weeks. We would sail down from Charleston on Monday and sail back on Friday. The Raytheon techs would fly down for the week.Then it was off to the missile range for the day and ack to port for the night and then do it all again the next day. Good times.

  Used to be stationed here 1999 - 2002...lots of business off base back then...i heard its like a ghost town now...wonder what will happen to the old base area...
